Must I start my account with cash?
No. You may start your account with either cash or securities or, if you wish, a combination of cash and securities. Also, Whitener Capital does not have a minimum account size requirement.
-
Will I lose control over my assets when I use Whitener Capital as my advisor?
NO! You retain complete control of your assets. Your brokerage account is in your name and you only give Whitener Capital limited authority to buy and sell assets for you.
-
Are my assets safe?
Whitener Capital never takes possession of any customer monies or other assets. All assets are registered in our customers’ names and held in their brokerage account(s).
-
How are my investments protected?
The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) protects assets held in brokerage accounts in amounts up to $500,000 ($100,000 for cash). Most brokerage firms provide additional insurance coverage up to $50 million. Of course, neither provides protection from market losses.
-
How will I know when changes are made to my portfolio?
WCM offers two choices to clients. Discretionary clients allow WCM to manage the portfolio in a timely and efficient manner. Non-discretionary clients prefer more control. Prior to making any change to an account, a recommendation is sent out with supporting information for the client’s review. The client then will either approve or cancel the recommendation and return it to WCM for execution.
-
How will I know about the status of my account(s)?
You will receive confirmations for all trades in your account as well as monthly statements directly from your broker and Whitener Capital’s monthly Portfolio Statement.
-
What do I do if I have questions about your reports, my account(s) or other financial matters?
You are encouraged to call our offices on our toll-free line with any questions you may have about your account or other matters with which we might be of help to you. We believe that managing assets is a very personal matter and encourage ongoing, direct contact and conversation with our customers.
-
Do I have to keep my account with Whitener Capital for any minimum amount of time?
No. While we generally recommend long-term investment strategies, you may close your account with us at any time with 30 days notice. Simply notify your broker and us and assume personal responsibility for your brokerage account. Whitener Capital has no set-up or closing fees.
